Paz & Gorm & Oliver & some other friends are all perplexed about mathematics. They think it is huge, and so important that all philosophy should just conform itself to Maths. The problem is, while they know that any data or knowledge can at best be an approximation and a simplification and a relative truth, they mysteriously miss the relativeness of Maths. And it is a shame, too, that they are perplexed, because Maths is such a simple, solved issue.

If you ask me — pray believe, i know how biased and prejudiced this is — the whole perplexity thing does not look like mere disregard for the other thesis. It smells like an old childhood imprinting conflicting with very good evidence to the contrary.

And i don’t know how to make this sound less demeaning. I wish i did.

That someone thinks Mathematics is perfect tells a lot about his culture and raising, but very little about reality itself.

And i myself once struggled with this imprinting. But i changed my mind. With nothing but Waterson to help.

math is a religion
